Lavandula stoechas "Hazel" p.p.a.f.
Flowers are a dark blue-purple, very eye catching. It is a seedling of Lavandula 'Marshwood' crossed with another unknown parent. It has a similar appearance when young but the flowers are more vibrant in color. As the plant gets older it tends to hold its shape better and is less likely to fall over.
Mature height 30" in two or three years with a spread
of 24" (.75 metres x .5 metre)
Blooming time from early Spring through to mid-Autumn,
with a short break during the heat of Summer.
Planting: Like most lavenders "Hazel" like
to be fed once or twice a year, mid Spring and early Summer "Hazel
also requires full sun and good drainage. It looks very good in group
plantings and will make a lovely medium sized hedge along a path
or driveway.
Originates from Invercargill New Zealand. "Hazel" is
named after Hazel Tildsey of Eugowra, New South Wales. A lady with
a passion for flowers and flower arranging.
